Li Ming and Bill are talking about Chinese holidays.
Bill:How many public holidays do you have in China, Li Ming?
Li Ming:Four. They are New Year’s Day, the Spring Festival, May Day, and National Day.
Bill:When is your National Day?
Li Ming:It’s October 1.
Bill:The Mid-autumn Festival isn’t a public holiday, is it?
Li Ming:No, but it’s also important. In the evening on that day, the families get together and eat moon cakes.

Different countries or even different parts of a country celebrate Labor Day on different days. Most countries (China and Germany for example) celebrate Labor Day on May 1, known as May Day. But in the United States and Canada, Labor Day has been celebrated on the first Monday in September since the 1880s. In New Zealand, Labor Day is a holiday held on the forth Monday in October. In Australia, Labor Day is October 1 in the Australia Capital Territory澳大利亚首都直辖区, New south Wales新南威尔士州, South Australia南澳大利亚州. In the Northern Territory北部地区 of Australia it is called May Day but ( unlike in most other countries with such a holiday) it is May 5, not May 1. In Western Australia西澳大利亚州 it is March 1, and the second Monday in March in Victoria维多利亚州. |
