Brief introduction of Beijing’s history.
- Beijing's history as a city can be dated back to 3,000 years ago. In the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the Kingdom of Yan set up its capital here, and named it Ji. Beijing was an important city in the Qin Dynasty, the Han Dynasty and the Three Kingdoms Period.
- The other name of Beijing is Yanjing, because Wang Mang set up DayanKingdom at the end of the Western Han Dynasty. Beijing was the alternate capital of the LiaoKingdom in the Southern Song Dynasty, and the official capital of the JinKingdom. From then on, the Yuan Dynasty, the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty with 34 emperors all designated Beijing as their capital.
